2007
In November, CDPHP earned CORA (Critical Outcomes Report Analysis) certification for disease management (DM) and wellness by the Disease Management Purchasing Consortium International, Inc. (DMPC). CDPHP holds both corporate and individual certification, which ensures accurate disease management and wellness reporting to employers from health plans and vendors.
In October, the CDPHP Medicaid plan, Select Plan, was rated 4th in the country and highest in New York state, while the commercial HMO and Medicare Choice plans were rated among the top 25 in the nation in a collaborative report entitled U.S. News & World Report/NCQA “America’s Best Health Plans 2007®.”
In September, an annual report card released by the New York State Health Accountability Foundation (NYSHAF) reaffirmed the CDPHP HMO as the top-rated health plan in New York State. In addition, members rated CDPHP highest in New York for customer service.
For the second consecutive year, Health Industries Research Companies (HIRC) recognized CDPHP as offering the best disease management program in upstate New York. CDPHP was the only health plan in the Capital Region to receive this award, with no other health plans north of New York City or east of Buffalo recognized. Less than six percent of the U.S. health plans profiled in this report are honored consecutively.
2006
In October, the CDPHP commercial health plan was rated fifth in the country, and top rated in New York state, in a collaborative report entitled U.S. News & World Report/NCQA “America’s Best Health Plans 2006®.” The CDPHP Medicare Advantage program, Medicare Choice, and the Medicaid program, Select Plan, placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the nation. Scoring was based on several factors including clinical quality, member satisfaction, and NCQA accreditation scores.
Also, in October 2006, A.M. Best Co. recognized Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan, Inc. (CDPHP) and its experience-rated affiliate, CDPHP Universal Benefits Inc. (UBI), with a B++ and B+ financial rating, respectively. These ratings place CDPHP and CDPHP UBI at the top of A.M. Best’s “very good” category.
In July, Health Industries Research Companies (HIRC), a national, independent research organization serving the health care industry, recognized CDPHP as offering the best disease management program in upstate New York. CDPHP, frequently lauded both regionally and nationally for its disease management programs, was the only health plan in the Capital Region to receive this honor.
Also in July 2006, CDPHP HMO members in Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Hamilton, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Otsego, Tioga counties, as well as Dutchess, Orange, and Ulster counties, reported the highest member satisfaction rates with their health care coverage, according to the New York State Health Accountability Foundation (NYSHAF). According to NYSHAF’s report, nearly 76 percent of HMO membership rated CDPHP an eight, nine, or 10 on a point scale of one to 10. In addition, HMO members at CDPHP reported the least number of problems in receiving care, and ranked the Plan number one for the greatest ability to get needed care. NYSHAF’s report also found that CDPHP performed at, or better than state levels in 22 of the 26 quality measurements.
Additionally in July 2006, the Albany Business Review rated CDPHP the second fastest growing company in the Capital Region. This is up from a fifth place ranking in 2005. Findings were based on growth in annual revenue, employee base, locations, and product offerings, and CDPHP was ranked with other local organizations within the $100 million plus revenue range.
In June, CDPHP received Excellent Accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for its commercial HMO, POS, Medicaid, and Medicare Choice products. Excellent Accreditation is NCQA’s highest accreditation status available to health plans. This is the fourth time that CDPHP has been awarded NCQA’s highest level of accreditation for its commercial HMO, the third time for its Medicaid product, Select Plan, and the second recognition for its Medicare Choice product.
2005
In October 2005, three CDPHP plans were ranked among the nation’s top health plans in a collaborative report entitled U.S. News & World Report/NCQA America’s Best Health Plans 2005®. CDPHP’s HMO was rated 15th in the country for commercial health plans, while its Medicaid program, SelectPlan, and its Medicare Advantage program, Medicare Choice, placed 7th and 21st, respectively, in the nation. Scoring was based on several factors including clinical quality, member satisfaction, and NCQA accreditation scores.
The September 2005 issue of a national consumer publication rated the CDPHP HMO number two in the nation by its members for overall satisfaction. This same publication has recognized CDPHP highly twice before, underscoring its commitment to continuous improvement and outstanding health care services. The overall rating was derived from the following factors: access to doctors and care; choice of doctors; customer service; billing; care from doctors; and primary care doctor.
In September 2005, Weiss Ratings, Inc rated CDPHP an “A-” (Excellent), increased from a consistent “B+” (Good) since 2001. The ranking places CDPHP in the top 14.9 percent of the health insurance industry, amongst a premier group of 77 health insurance companies. The findings are based on the evaluation of CDPHP’s capitalization, investment safety, profitability, liquidity, and stability.
For the seventh consecutive year, members of AvidCare™, the Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan, Inc. HMO, rated it the best plan in New York state, according to an annual report card by the New York State Health Accountability Foundation (NYSHAF). According to the report, 80 percent of the Plan’s membership rated the plan an eight, nine, or 10 on a point scale of one to 10. Of the 19 HMOs included in the comprehensive, statewide report, CDPHP ranked four percent higher than the next closest plan, and is the only one to score in the 80th percentile for overall rating.
2004
In September 2004, the CDPHP HMO, AvidCare™, was rated one of the top 10 accredited health plans in the country for overall member satisfaction in The State of Health Care Quality report, by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). CDPHP’s HMO was the only Capital Region plan to receive this honor.
In June 2004, for the sixth consecutive year, the CDPHP HMO was ranked first by members in a report card issued by the New York State Health Accountability Foundation (NYSHAF). According to the report, 83 percent of CDPHP's membership rated the plan an 8, 9, or 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. Of the 20 health plans included in the comprehensive statewide report, CDPHP is the only company to score in the 80th percentile for overall rating and is ranked 10 percent higher than the next closest plan. Additionally, the score is significantly higher than the national average of 64 percent, once again marking CDPHP among the best health plans nationally. Last year, CDPHP was named number one in member satisfaction with a score of 78 percent.
