Peter T. Burkart, MD, chairman of the board of CDPHP, has served as vice chairman since September 2003 and as a board member since 2000. He has been a practicing hematologist with New York Oncology Hematology, PC (NYOH) since 2000 and is an attending physician with St. Peter’s Hospital Department of Medicine. Dr. Burkart is also an attending physician and hematologist at Albany Medical Center Hospital where he is associate director of the special diagnostic, hematology and coagulation laboratory, associate director of the hematology laboratory, associate director of the blood bank, and medical director of the outpatient transfusion/apheresis area. He serves as a medical director of the adult section of the Albany Regional Comprehensive Hemophilia program and is professor of clinical medicine at Albany Medical College.
Dr. Burkhart earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College and holds a bachelor of science degree from Siena College. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Additionally, he was awarded a research fellowship in immunohematology by The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and is board-certified in internal medicine and hematology.
Dr. Burkart is a member of the Albany Medical Society, the New York State Medical Society, the American Society of Hematology, and is an executive committee member of HHSII Regional Comprehensive Hemophilia Program.
