CDPHP Employee Community Service
Supporting the Communities We Serve
The CDPHP Community Services Committee (CSC) provides employees with an opportunity to raise funds, donate time, and collect goods for various charities and public service organizations.
2008 Community Service Achievements
During 2008, the CSC was involved in both fundraising and hands-on community support of numerous worthwhile causes. Funds were raised through a variety of efforts, including the sale of Entertainment Books, used and new book sales, cell phone recycling, and bottle returns.
At the end of the year, a total of $1,701 was donated in equal amounts to four local charities: Joseph’s House and Shelter, Community Caregivers, Make A Wish Foundation of Northeastern New York, and To Life Breast Cancer Education and Support.
A few of the initiatives supported by our CSC are detailed below.
Cell Phone Recycling Program
CDPHP found a creative way to celebrate Earth Day, help the environment, and raise funds for the CSC, all without requiring a cash donation from employees.
Mobile phones contain toxic elements that can harm the environment. To keep them out of local landfills, employees were asked to donate their used cell phones, which were purchased by GRC Wireless Recycling and then transformed into useful items through the company's reuse and refurbishment process.
CSC Launches Campaign to Benefit Homeless Pets
Together with the employees at CDPHP, the CSC made a difference in the lives of homeless cats and dogs by participating in a “Donations for Pets” campaign.
The committee coordinated the collection of pet food, toys, supplies, and funds and donated them to two animal shelters located in Saratoga and Guilderland.
CDPHP Employees Bring Holiday Cheer to Local Families
Continuing a treasured CDPHP holiday tradition, the CSC again supported Albany County’s Adopt-A-Family program, providing gifts for five local families with three children each.
Thanks to the generosity of our employees, 180 gifts were purchased and distributed to these needy families. In addition, employees contributed items to fill 74 stockings in support of the Salvation Army Christmas Stocking Project.
