What's New

2010 Health Insurer Guide

  • The New York State Department of Insurance recently released its annual Health Insurer Guide. CDPHP scored the highest rating at 74 - nearly 10 points higher than the average rating for all New York HMOs. CDPHP also scored highest among HMOs in terms of consumer satisfaction with provider communication.

Pack Your Bag: Medication Checkup

  • CDPHP and CVS pharmacists are joining together to help members get a medication check-up! Be sure to tell your patients that this is a great opportunity to review medications, consult with a pharmacist and ask any questions they may have. They can register online or by calling the wellness line at 1-877-986-2373.

Mom2Be and Text4Baby

  • CDPHP has teamed up with area physicians to pilot Mom2Be, a pregnancy notification program designed to help keep expectant and new parents well informed. Members can also sign up for a free text messaging service, Text4Baby, to get timely tips on nutrition and immunizations for women from the first trimester of pregnancy through the newborn's first year.

Hospital Prior Authorization Change

  • Effective Oct. 1, 2010, CDPHP® will no longer require that network provider offices contact us ahead of time for approval of in-network hospital stays. Certain procedures will continue to require prior authorization (as detailed in policies located in the secure provider portal), but after October 1, 2010 there will be no need to provide advance notice of in-network inpatient stays.  Read FAQ

Formulary Changes

  • Effective July 1, CDPHP will remove all brand name proton pump inhibitors (PPI’s) and implement a step-therapy protocol for the generics in this class. In addition, a new step therapy protocol in the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins) class requires use of generics first. All brand name statins will be removed from the formulary except Lipitor 80mg (Tier 2) and Crestor 40mg (Tier 3) that a member may receive after the step therapy protocol is met. Please discuss patients’ current medications to determine the most clinically and cost-effective options available.

Spread the Message

  • CDPHP is once again teaming up with area partners Bellevue Woman’s Care Center and Price Chopper to provide access to vital breast screenings. Extend the message of early detection with your patients and inform them of these upcoming opportunities offered throughout the Capital Region.
