Meridith J. Englander, MD, FSIR, FACR joined CDPHP in November 2021 and currently serves as a medical director. In this role, Dr. Englander assists with utilization management and policy development, in addition to serving as chair of the pharmacy and therapeutics committee. Dr. Englander is also a professor of radiology at Albany Medical College and continues to lecture for the diagnostic and interventional radiology residency programs.
Prior to joining CDPHP, Dr. Englander was employed as an interventional radiologist at the Stratton VA Medical Center and at Community Care Physicians, working locally at Albany Medical Center Hospital, Samaritan Hospital, and Ellis Hospital. Her clinical interests include women’s health and venous disease.
Dr. Englander represents the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) as councilor to the American College of Radiology and delegate to the American Medical Association. Dr. Englander is a vocal advocate for gender equity issues in medicine and has published and presented widely on this topic. She was the inaugural chair of the Women in Interventional Radiology section of the Society of Interventional Radiology and was the 2020 recipient of the SIR Women in Interventional Radiology Champion Award. She also serves as treasurer of the American Association of Women in Radiology.
Dr. Englander received her bachelor’s degree at Smith College and earned her medical degree at Albany Medical College. She completed her residency training in diagnostic radiology at Albany Medical Center and her fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital. She is board certified in diagnostic and interventional radiology and hospice and palliative care medicine. She is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and the Society of Interventional Radiology.
