In the Community

Since its founding, CDPHP has supported the health, education, and vibrancy of the communities it serves, touching the lives of countless people through its sponsorship program and Foundation. Not only has the company granted funding to extend the reach and impact of local non-profits, it has also provided direct support via employee volunteerism, collection drives, health fairs, and other activities.

  • Disease prevention and treatment

  • All aspects of health and wellness

  • Individuals with special needs

CDPHP The Foundation

CDPHP Foundation Fundraiser

Established in 2017, CDPHP The Foundation focuses on supporting and promoting health, wellness, and education in the community. In 2023, the company granted $313,171 (of total revenues of $589,000) to four organizations – the University at Albany Foundation, Capital Region Chamber Foundation, Albany Medical Center (John H. Carter Endowed Scholarship), and Pride Center of the Capital Region – to address widespread public health concerns in the community. Funds raised included more than $123,000 from indoor/outdoor golf tournaments, $1,600 from multiple raffles hosted throughout the year, and $75,000 from voluntary employee payroll deductions.

Community Engagement and Events

Healthy Neighborhood Events/Direct Community Support

In 2023, CDPHP, together with local organizations throughout its service area, hosted seven Healthy Neighborhood Events. During these events, CDPHP provided educational resources, health screenings, and fun activities for families and seniors. CDPHP also teamed up with Chasing Health to offer blood pressure screening and education in underserved areas, partnered with local senior centers to offer flu vaccine clinics throughout the fall season, and organized Thanksgiving meal deliveries to those in need.

CDPHP Cycle!

The CDPHP Cycle! bike share program was created to meet the community’s need for a convenient, affordable, healthy, and sustainable means of transportation. After a record-breaking 2022 season that netted 80,311 rides and engaged more than 28,600 members, Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) and CDPHP marked the launch of season 7 with several innovative improvements to the program. These included:

  • Introduction of electric bikes with pedal assist to help riders navigate hills and other challenging terrain.

  • Creation of a dedicated website – www.cdphpcycle.org – where program participants can purchase memberships or pay-as-you-go access and find updated information on the program.

  • Improved safety features on the bikes, including enhanced reflective striping to make riders more visible to drivers and pedestrians and more secure end-of-trip photo verification.

CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge

The CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge is the largest running event in New York’s Capital Region. Organized by the Hudson-Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC), the race also is an important vehicle for supporting local charitable causes. Each year, in conjunction with the race, HMRRC and CDPHP select one or more charities of choice, each of which receives a donation from CDPHP as well as direct contributions from race participants. The proceeds also help fund many HMRRC activities and offerings, including college scholarships, grants, free running programs, and the Just Run® Program.

In 2023, the race raised more than $33,000 for the Rotterdam Community Center of Rotterdam, NY. The funds will allow the Center to expand the hours of its food pantry, offer weekly in-person sessions to address food insecurity, and make weekly food deliveries to the homes of those in need. The money will also support the Center’s mental health and wellness program, as well as its arts and culture offerings.
