Having prediabetes greatly increases the chance of developing type 2 diabetes and other serious health conditions. It’s critical to learn your prediabetes risk, be screened regularly, and take the steps necessary to delay or prevent type 2 diabetes.
Research shows people who actively used a CDC-recognized diabetes prevention program cut their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by up to 58 percent (71 percent for people over 60 years old). They achieved this by losing five to seven percent of their body weight and doing 150 minutes of exercise per week.
